Holiday Arts & Crafts Celebration

On this Saturday, December 5th, Coyote Creek Studio Arts will be joining the town of Fairplay in their Holiday Arts & Crafts Celbration. Some of our artists will be at the gallery for a "Meet the Artist".

This will be a great time to do a little holiday shopping and find something truly unique with all the beautiful items Coyote Creek has to offer.

Website Redesign Published!


The new look and feel of Coyote Creek Studio Arts website is published. Phase 1 involved a complete redesign of the website. New color scheme, inclusion of all of our artists on the Artist Page and giving a fresher appearance to our Colorado Artists Co-Op.

Phase 2 will involve publication of an artist page for each of our Colorado Artists that have submitted their biography or artist's statement, along with pictures of their work and a link to their website or blog if they have one. Stay tuned...it's exciting. Hope you enjoy the new look.

Watecolor Painting Class


On June 14 th we will be offering a Water Color Painting Class from 11:00 to 3:00 and could go later if you want. Location front street and the South Park City Museum Meet at the parking lot of the Museum for starters COST: $25.00 Update : There will be a reduce charge of $6.00 to get into the Museum for the day. If you are a member no charge to get in. Drawing Quick sketch class for journaling your travels or just to get your ideas down on paper quickly for reference or to tell your story. If it is raining will try and have a plan B for drawing inside at the museum. Will take a mid day break at Dales soda shop and who knows what subject matter will find there. Maybe will have Dale pose for us.

This is a medium pace class that will show you various drawing techniques in a short time period. 15 sec up to 30 mins. Quick sketch of buildings, close-up sections, people that occupy or visited, cars, bikers or whatever comes our way. This class will offer you a new way to look at front street historical buildings and the people that visited it. SUPPLIES: Small drawing sketch pad 8 x 10 or journaling book no lines Felt tip pens #005 fine tip and #001 (just need a few different sizes ) Black ink. #2 school pencil nothing fancy or mechanical pencil not to small of lead Eraser Hand sharpener (will have some on hand) Water bottle Fanny pack or backpack for your supplies Good walking shoes Be prepared for all types of weather Will email if there is supply updates. Pat Pocius' Even Count Peyote Stitch Class

Pat will teach the basics of the even count peyote stitch using size 11 delica beads. Students will learn the stitch as we bead around a miniature bottle/vial that will be made into a necklace.
Materials: materials provided by South Park Pottery & Back Room Beads. Bring your glasses if you need them for close up work and sissors if you have them.

Lexi Erickson's Art Jewelry Workshop


Spend the weekend in Fairplay and take Lexi's two day art jewelry workshop, packed with tons of information, and oh yes, lots of fun!

This first workshop will take place on June 13 & 14, 2009. In this workshop Lexi will teach the basics of sawing metal shapes, texturing, drilling, polishing on the buffing wheel, soldering,design, and bezel setting stones. In this workshop you will make two pair of earrings, a band ring, a focal pendant and pin. If you have some metal jewelry experience, Lexi will work with your level of experience. Materials: Tools will be available or you are welcome to bring your own. Materials can be provided in kits or you are welcome to bring your own sterling, copper or brass/bronze to work with.

Pat Pocius' Beginning Wire Wrap Stone Class

On May 17th, Pat will teach beginning wire wrap of stones. This is a repeat of the first class where you will learn three different techniques of wire wrapping including free-form, cabachon, and drilled bead pendants. This is a "Request a Class" class where if you can get at least three people together on almost any day or evening, we can probably work it out for you. Call 719-836-2698 or e-mail prd@wildblue.net

Dana Chace's Gourd Art Class

This class will be taught by local weaver/gourd artist Dana Chace. This is a two day class due to the prep and drying time required for the gourd. The first day will teach you how to prepare the gourd, cutting, cleaning and drying. This will be a two hour class on Saturday May 16th at 1pm. The second part of the class will be decorating the rim of the gourd with horsehair or pine needles and embellishment with beads. The second class will take place on Saturday May 30th at 1:00pm and will also be a two hour class.

Cost of the class will be $50 with supplies and tools provided. If you have a dremel tool or any of your own beads you would like to use, please bring them along.

The Sneak Preview

Yesterday, May 9th, was the Sneak Preview of Coyote Creek Studio Arts. Many of our artists were present and we a nice turn out of people seeing the work of our artists.

In this picture, Lexi Erickson, President of Coyote Creek Studio Arts, is standing next to the wood sculpture of one of our artists. The sculptor, John, can just be seen to the left of the red flower (he's wearing sunglasses). Fred Boyce, the mayor of Fairplay and one of the studio's board of directors, is visiting with one of our watercolor instructors.
